
Colts Double up Abilene in Finale

San Angelo Colts News Release
Abilene, Texas --- Designated hitter J.J. Sherrill and first baseman Daryl Jones propelled the Colts to an 8-4 victory over the Abilene Prairie Dogs with four hits apiece Tuesday night at Walt Driggers Field.
Sherrill and Jones both went 4-for-5, and combined to drive in two runs and score four times. It was the first time this season either of them have had a four-hit game.
The Colts scored in all but three innings, and led 5-1 after the fourth. Down 6-1 in the sixth inning, Abilene scored three runs on five hits. Left fielder Joe Weik, first baseman Kyle Nichols and right fielder Geraldo Valentin all scored to cut the Prairie Dogs' deficit to 6-4.
However, the Colts responded with a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to seal the win. Abilene starter Woods Fines (4-10) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits in six innings.
Colts' starter Logan Williamson (9-3) earned the win. He gave up four runs, three earned, on 10 hits in eight innings. Williamson also struck out two batters to give him 90 on the season.
The win improves San Angelo to 43-41, while the loss drops Abilene 32-50. The Colts are off Wednesday, but they begin begin a four-game series against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Thursday night at Foster Field.
It will be another $1 Beer Night, sponsored by Miller Lite. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
