
Colts Dominate Third to Defeat Wolves

The Sudbury Wolves faced off against the Barrie Colts for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon. Play remained fairly even between the two squads until the third period when the Colts took over the game and ran off with a 7-4 victory.
The Colts came out strong at the beginning of the game, taking an early lead with a goal from ANDREW MANGIAPANE. The Wolves responded with lots of pressure deep in the Colts zone generating two penalties and some good scoring chances but could not beat DANIEL GIBL. Shots on goal after the first were 10-9 in favour of the Wolves.
Special teams dominated the second period as 15 minutes of penalties were handed out. The Wolves were able to capitalize on the power play oppotunities with goals from KYLE CAPOBIANCO and JEFF CORBETT. The Colts then responded, adding two goals to take the 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Shots on goal at the end of the second were 23-18 in favour of the Wolves.
The Colts came out flying in the third scoring four unanswered goals to put them up 7-2. IVAN KASHTANOV and BRODY SILK scored late in the period but it was not enough to overcome the Colts. The Wolves fell by a 7-4 final with shots on goal 35-31 for the Wolves.
The Wolves will now hit the road next weekend and will return to action at home on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00PM when they host the Niagara IceDogs. Tickets are available at the Sudbury Arena Box office, by calling 705-671-3000 or online at www.greatersudbury.ca.
