Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs scored five times in the third period in a huge 6-5 comeback win over the North Bay Battalion in North Bay.

A pair of power play goals for the Battalion by Marcus McIvor and Ray Huether gave them a 2-0 lead after the first period.

Nick Paul scored 4:45 into the middle frame to make it 3-0, before Mikkel Aagaard's 9th goal of the season brought the IceDogs within two. Ryan Kujawinski scored a power play goal late in the second to make it 4-1 for the Battalion.

That's when the IceDogs would make their push back. Billy Jenkins, Ryan Mantha and Vince Dunn scored three straight power play goals to tie the game at 4-4. Carter Verhaeghe would cap off the comeback and give the IceDogs the lead at 15:18 of the third. Kujawinski's second of the game tied it up once again, but Verhaeghe's second of the period would give the IceDogs the lead for good to cap off an unbelievable final frame.

Brent Moran made 27 saves between the pipes for the IceDogs, who wrapped up a stretch of three games in three days.

They're back at it Thursday night when they host the Mississauga Steelheads at the Meridian Centre.
