Colts Beat \'Wings in Home Run Derby

Harlingen, TX - The San Angelo Colts (37-25) hit four home runs to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (18-46) 10-4 tonight at Foster Field.

The Colts sent eight men to the plate against Todd Lutz (2-5) in the second. Jason Landreth hit a one-out single. With two outs, Charley Belew hit an RBI-single and Bryan Frichter hit his ninth home run. John Anderson followed with a double and Jose Torres hit his 12th home run to make it 5-0.

With two outs in the third, Jason Landreth hit his first home run to make it 6-0.

In the fourth, Belew drew a six-pitch walk to knock out Lutz. Angel Cordero came in and gave up a one-out double to Anderson, moving Belew to third. A wild pitch scored Belew to make it 7-0.

In his first career start Chris Weast, baffled the WhiteWings for the first four innings, allowing just two hits and three walks. In the fifth, though, David Fowler led off with a tripled and scored on a single by Kevin Griffin. Amadeo Zazueta walked, and two outs later, Joel Gonzalez hit an RBI-single to knock out Weast and make it 7-2.

In the sixth, Anthony Slagle drew a one-out walk against Alex Merricks (2-0). Fowler followed with his seventh home run of the season to make it 7-4.

With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Torres walked and Aaron Cone singled. Andres Rodriguez reached on an error to score Torres, making it 8-4. A Wyn Diggs walk knocked out Cordero, allowing Armando Casas to make his professional debut. He struck out Landreth to escape the jam.

Casas struck out the side in the seventh, but with one out, Belew doubled and Frichter hit his second home run of the night to make it 10-4.

The WhiteWings and Colts plate game three of this six-game series tomorrow night at 7:05. Left-hander Bryan Herrera (0-1) will face left-hander Logan Williamson (8-3).
