Broncos lose slugfest

Amarillo, TX-The Laredo Broncos scored 11 runs, but it wasn't enough as they fell to the Amarillo Dillas in Amarillo by a score of 22-11 on Friday night. The Broncos play the finale of a 3 game series vs. the Dillas on Saturday. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The Broncos would jump out to the early lead in the 1st inning. Anthony Bennett led off the inning being hit by a pitch. He would then score on a double by Ivan Reyes. Luany Sanchez would follow with a walk. Edgard Clemente then came up and hit a 2 run double scoring both Reyes and Sanchez. That would give the Broncos a 3-0 lead.

The Dillas would answer in their half of the 1st. Jonathan Reynoso led off the inning with a home run, his 14th of the season. Keith Brachold followed with a single and then scored from 1st on a double by Gary Schneidmiller. Then with 2 outs, Andrew Wong hit a 2 run home run, his 1st of the season as Amarillo took the lead by a score of 4-3.

The Broncos would retake the lead in the 2nd. Steven Wright led off with a walk and then went to 2nd on a bunt single by Anthony Bennett. Then with 1 out Luany Sanchez walked to load the bases. Edgard Clemente would strike out, but Arnoldo Ponce would come through with 2 away and hit a single scoring both Wright and Bennett and making the score 5-4.

Amarillo would tie the game back up in the 3rd inning. With 1 out, AJ Johnson doubled and then scored on an Andrew Wong single making the score 5-5.

Laredo would retake the lead in the 4th inning. With 2 outs Edgard Clemente would walk and then score on a rbi double by Arnoldo Ponce. That gave the Broncos the 6-5 lead.

The Dillas lineup would explode in their half of the 4th. With 1 out, Jonathan Reynoso would single and then go to 2nd base on a single by Keith Brachold. Gary Schneidmiller then hit a single scoring Reynoso and moving Brachold to 3rd. Danny Bravo would then walk to load the bases. AJ Johnson would knock in Brachold with a single and the bases remained loaded. Broncos starter Andy Schon was taken out after that for reliever Dan Sausville. He was greeted rudely by Andrew Wong who hit a 2 run single scoring both Schneidmiller and Bravo. Stephen Douglas then singled scoring Johnson. Then with 2 outs, Josh Ashton who started the inning off singled in Wong. In total the Dillas scored 6 runs on 7 hits as they now led 11-6.

Andy Schon had one of his worst outings of the season for Laredo. He went only 3 1/3 innings giving up 10 runs on 11 hits. He walked 2 batters in the game and struck out 0.

Sausville would run into trouble in the 5th as well. With 1 out Gary Schneidmiller walked but was out at 2nd on a fielder's choice by Danny Bravo, with Bravo safe at 1st. AJ Johnson would then single moving Bravo to 3rd. Bravo would score on a single by Andrew Wong. That was followed by a Stephen Douglas single which scored Johnson. Brian Bueno then hit a rbi single scoring Wong. That extended the Dillas lead to 14-6.

The Broncos would get closer in the 6th inning. Anthony Bennett led off with a single and scored on a double by Ivan Reyes. Luany Sanchez followed with a double of his own scoring Reyes. That would chase Micah Posey from the game, who was the Dillas starter. Josh Smith would come into the game. With 1 out Arnoldo Ponce would single in Sanchez. That made the score 18-9.

The Dillas would extend their lead in their half of the 6th. Jonathan Reynoso led off with a triple. That was followed by a walk to Keith Brachold. That would do it for Sausville as the Broncos brought in Rusty Jones. Gary Schneidmiller would single in Reynoso and advance Brachold to 2nd. Danny Bravo followed that with a 3 run home run, his 11th of the season. That would give Amarillo an 18-9 lead.

The Dillas would tack on 3 more runs in the 7th on Danny Bravo's 2nd 3 run homer of the game, which was his 12th of the season. That made the score 21-9.

The Broncos would get a couple of runs in the 8th inning. Luany Sanchez led off the inning being hit by a pitch. Edgard Clemente would then double putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Sanchez would score on a sacrifice fly by Arnoldo Ponce. Sean Gamble followed with a single scoring Clemente and making the score 21-11.

The Dillas would add another run in the bottom of the 8th on a rbi single by Brian Bueno making the score 22-11, and that is the way it would stay as the Broncos dropped the middle game.

The Broncos scored 11 runs on 12 hits and committed 0 errors, while the Dillas scored 22 runs on 27 hits and committed 0 errors.
