Colorado Eagles News Release

DENVER - December 23, 2008 - The Colorado 14ers ended a two game slide with a 99-95 win over the Tulsa 66ers at the Broomfield Event Center Tuesday night. Colorado moves to 6-3 on the season with the win, while Tulsa falls to 3-8.

Denver Nuggets assigned players Sonny Weems and Cheikh Samb led the way for the 14ers, with Weems scoring a game-high 25 points and Samb adding 15 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots in the win.

"With each game they are starting to get more comfortable," said 14ers head coach Bob MacKinnon. "I think even more than that, their teammates are getting more comfortable with them. It's a learning process on both ends, but I think it's been good."

Colorado took a 79-77 lead on Samb's 21 foot jumper with 10:20 to play, and never looked back in the final quarter. Four other 14ers scored in double figures, led by Josh Davis' 17 point effort on 6-7 shooting off the bench.

Tulsa was led Jeremy Kelly and Chris Richard, who scored 18 points each. Yemi Ogunoye added 17 for the 66ers in the loss.

Next up the 14ers will host the Utah Flash at the Broomfield Event Center Friday night at 7:00 p.m. MST. Tulsa is on the road at Austin on Friday.
