Colorado Rapids Recognized for Having Top Young Talent
September 25, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
MLSsoccer.com's annual "24 Under 24," presented by adidas, is out and Colorado earned three nods: one for Dillon Powers at #11, Shane O'Neill at #19 and Deshorn Brown at #20.
Dillon Powers comes in at #11
Earlier this week, a 50-player short list, which also included Rapids player Dillon Serna, was selected by a preliminary panel of MLSsoccer.com editors and external constituents, and then the larger panel rated the 50 players based on the following criteria:
Technical (skills, dribbling, shooting, first touch, heading, etc.) Soccer IQ (positioning, reading game, situational understanding, tactical awareness, etc.) Physical Attributes (speed, endurance, strength, vertical leap, etc.) Personality (attitude, marketability, media savviness, charisma, intangibles, etc.) Potential (improvability, ceiling, national team potential, potential future transfer value, etc.)
The votes were collated to establish the final 24 players.
Shane O'Neill ranked #19
The full list of "24 Under 24," as well as complete coverage and exclusive features, is available on MLSsoccer.com.
Deshorn Brown listed at #20
Earlier this year, ahead of the inaugural MLS Homegrown game, Soccer America published an article with what they saw as the top ten Homegrown Players, which included both Shane O'Neill and Dillon Serna. The Rapids were the only club boasting more than one player on the list.
