January 12, 2017 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release

COMMERCE CITY, Colo- In conjunction with Major League Soccer, the Colorado Rapids today announced the full schedule for the upcoming 2017 MLS regular season.

For the first time since 2012, the club will kick-off their campaign in Commerce City. The 2016 Supporters' Shield runners-up will host New England Revolution on Saturday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Between March 4 and October 22, the Rapids will once again play 17 home games in a 34-game schedule (23 matchups against Western Conference teams and 11 against Eastern Conference clubs). With two expansion sides joining MLS in 2017, Colorado will face-off against Minnesota United FC (3/18, 4/23) and at Atlanta United (6/24) for the first time.

This season, the Rapids will also take on three Western Conference teams three times (DAL, VAN, RSL) and seven Western Conference squads twice (SKC, LA, MIN, SEA, POR, HOU, SJ). In addition, Colorado will play against all eleven Eastern Conference clubs once during the regular season - five at home (NE, CLB, DC, NYC, MTL) and six on the road (NY, ORL, CHI, PHI, ATL, TOR).

For the second year in a row, the club's annual 4th Fest will feature a match against the reigning MLS Cup champions. Last season, the Rapids and Portland Timbers drew 0-0 in Tim Howard's debut for the club at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. This season, the Rapids will take on Seattle Sounders FC on Tuesday, July 4, immediately followed by the largest public display of fireworks in the state of Colorado.

The Rapids will play seven midweek games in 2017, with the rest of the matches taking place on Saturday or Sunday. Additionally, Colorado will be featured in five nationally televised matches - with two of those taking place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (5/13 vs. SJ and 6/18 vs. POR). All non-nationally televised games will be aired locally on Altitude TV, as well as over the airwaves on Altitude 950 AM.

MLS will have a League-wide break from July 7-16 due to the upcoming 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. On top of the 34 regular season matches and potential Playoff games, the Rapids will also participate in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, as well as the region's top club competition, the 2017-18 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
