THE GAME:
The Colorado Crush hit the road for their last Central Division away game of the season when they travel to Grand Rapids to face the Rampage on Saturday, May 26th at 5:00 p.m. MT. In the season opener this year, Grand Rapids handed the Crush a 44-42 loss, one of only three wins for the Rampage this season.
Colorado has been playing their best football of the season recently winning five of their last six games. The Crush's success can be attributed to the ability to create turnovers and not turn the ball over themselves.
Entering Week 7, the Crush had a -5 turnover margin (their lowest of the season). Since that point, Colorado has dramatically reserved that number to a +4 entering Week 13 play (their highest of the season).
In the first six games of the season, QB John Dutton had thrown eight interceptions. Over his last six games though, he has only thrown three picks.
The Crush secondary has also hauled in their share of interceptions with an astonishing 14 interceptions in the last six games. Colorado has registered 18 INTs on the year, which ties the club record for most interceptions in a single-season (18 in 2006).
The Grand Rapids Rampage have dropped five of their last six games, including two straight contests. Leading the Rampage's charge is WR/DB Timon Marshall, who is once again tearing up the League one yard at a time. Marshall
currently leads the AFL in kickoff returns (72), kickoff return yards (1,644) and kickoff return TDs (5). He also leads the League in all-purpose yards with 2,641- a category he led at the end of the 2006 season too. In his past three games against the Crush, Marshall has racked up 335 return yards on 18 kickoff returns.

HEAD COACHES:
MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (107-68, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.
One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 106-68 record, a winning percentage of 61.0. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.
In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.
Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.
Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

SPARKY McEWEN, Grand Rapids (12-31, 3rd Year): Sparky McEwen is in his third year as head coach and director of football operations for the Grand Rapids Rampage. In two seasons, he has led the team to a 9-23 record, including a 5-11 mark in 2006.
Last season, the Rampage showed significant growth for the second straight year, however, boasting one of the league's stingiest defenses. Grand Rapids improved its win total in each of McEwen's first two seasons as head coach.
In 2006, McEwen led a Rampage squad that battled through injuries for much of the season, with 97 games missed due to injury. The team featured several bright spots, however, highlighted by its stellar defense. The Rampage were tops in the Arena Football League in passing yards allowed per game (243.1) and ranked fifth in the league in total yards allowed per game (274.9).
McEwen's ties to the Rampage go back to the team's inaugural season in 1998. He appeared in five games and had a 2-1 record as the starting quarterback with 477 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and six rushing scores.
In 2000, McEwen joined the team as a pro scout and assistant coach. His experienced scouting led to the signing of two future ArenaBowl MVPs, Terrill Shaw and Willis Marshall. A year later, McEwen was promoted to offensive coordinator and helped guide the Rampage to their ArenaBowl XV win. In his three seasons (2001-03) as the Rampage offensive coordinator, Grand Rapids' offense scored more points and gained more yards than any other team in the AFL.
In 2004, McEwen served as the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of arenafootball2.
McEwen also spent eight years as head coach of Creston High School in Grand Rapids, compiling a 43-30 record for his alma mater. He led Creston to its first winning season in 21 years in 1999, and delivered back-to-back City League titles in 2000 and 2001. In all, he helped over 50 players receive collegiate football scholarships.
McEwen attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., from 1987-90, where he played quarterback, receiver, cornerback, safety and kick/punt returner during his four-year career.
LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:
DENVER (3/4/07)- The Grand Rapids Rampage snapped an eight-game road losing streak handing the Colorado Crush a 44-42 loss in the season opener in front of 14,950 fans. The Rampage's last road win came on May 15 in the 2005 season finale against Chicago.
Colorado could not overcome three turnovers, two interceptions and a fumble, as Grand Rapids outscored the Crush 34-7 in the second and third quarters.
On Colorado's first series of the game, quarterback John Dutton completed a perfect 5-for-5 passing as he found wide receiver Damian Harrell for a six-yard touchdown strike. With the score, Harrell broke the AFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown (66). The Crush would build a 21-7 lead by the end of the first quarter, as Dutton completed his third TD pass to rookie receiver Willie Quinnie with seven seconds left in the period.
The Crush took a 28-20 lead into the half, as Grand Rapids chipped at the Colorado lead with two field goals by Brian Gowins and a 13-yard touchdown from Chad Salisbury to Timon Marshall.
Salisbury would leave the game on the second play of the third quarter when he suffered a concussion on a quarterback scramble. Back-up Matt Sauk did not take long to make an impact, stepping in on a fourth down play and connecting with Jerome Riley on a 43-yard touchdown pass to cut the Colorado lead to 28-27.
Dutton would fumble on the Crush's ensuing drive setting up the Rampage to lead, their first lead of the game, which they would not relinquish. Troy Edwards' three-yard touchdown reception with 2:25 left in the third quarter gave Grand Rapids a 34-28 advantage.
The Crush made a late surge as wide receiver Brad Pyatt's 14-yard touchdown with 22 seconds remaining in the game trimmed the Rampage lead to 42-44, but an unsuccessful on-side kick by Colorado helped secure the win for Grand Rapids.
CRUSH LAST WEEK:
DENVER (5/18/07) - Quarterback John Dutton threw for a season-high eight touchdowns as the Colorado Crush (8-4) defeated the Columbus Destroyers (6-5) 58-40 Friday night in front of 15,326 at Pepsi Center. Colorado, winners of five of their last six games, used a strong performance by their defense to force four turnovers on the night, while the Crush offense scored on nine of 11 possessions.
Dutton, who was named Offensive Player of the Game, completed 28-of-40 passes for 293 yards and eight scores with one interception. Colorado WR Damian Harrell also turned in a big night with four touchdown receptions on 13 receptions for 117 yards. Defensively for the Crush, DB Rashad Floyd hauled in two interceptions and made a game-high 14 tackles being named the contest's Defensive Player of the Game.
Colorado jumped out to an early 14-6 lead after the first quarter of play following two touchdowns by WR Willie Quinnie. Just before the end of the first session, Columbus QB Matt Nagy threw an interception to DB Jason Harmon and in the process injured his left elbow. Nagy would not return to the game and would be replaced by Scott Dreisbach.
The Crush took a 15-point advantage into the half, 35-20, as Harrell scored two of his touchdowns in the second quarter on 5-yard and 11-yard catches respectively, the final one coming with just four seconds left before the break.
The Destroyers were held scoreless in the third quarter as the Colorado defense held with a forced fumble and an interception. The Crush however only managed six points in the quarter themselves as they pushed their lead to 41-20.
Dreisbach would complete three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, but his interception to Floyd with 21 seconds remaining secured the victory for Colorado.
THINGS TO WATCH:
UP FOR GRABS:
This season the Crush secondary has made a huge impact in the team's overall success. Through 12 games, the Colorado defense has already tied the club's single-season record for interceptions with 18. Both Rashad Floyd and Chris Angel are tied with seven interceptions apiece, which stands tied for third most in the AFL this season (the team's individual single-season record is 10- Floyd in 2006).

YOUNG BLOOD:
The Colorado Crush took the field in Week 1 with four rookies on their active roster. Not since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival to Colorado in 2004 has he had that many first-year players on his Crush active roster to begin a season.
The Crush currently have five rookies on their active roster with all five of those players starting.
LOCAL TIES:
This season the Crush have found a lot of good-young talent right in their back yard. Here is a list of players that have Colorado ties:
- DL QUINN DORSEY attended Manual High School in Denver.
- FB/LB ANTHONY DUNN attended Centauri High School in Manassa, CO and later played at the University of Northern Colorado.
- OL BRETT HUYSER played his collegiate football at the Air Force Academy.
- WR BRAD PYATT has played football at all three levels of his career in Colorado (Arvada West High School, Northern Colorado and the Crush).
BUILDING A WINNING TRADITION:
The Crush are the winningest team in the AFL regular season since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival, having tied for the league's best record in 2004 (11-5) and finishing with the American Conference's top seed in 2005 (10-6) and 2006 (11-5).

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH:
After finishing their inaugural season 0-8 at home, the Crush are now 26-6 under Mike Dailey (2-1 in the postseason) at Pepsi Center. Two of the six losses consist of a field goal in overtime (42-45) vs. Indiana in 2004 and a 51-48 Chicago win in 2005 on a field goal with three seconds remaining.
LET'S MAKE IT THREE:
Last season, Colorado was the only team to repeat as a division champion. This year, they'll look to become the first team since the New York Dragons (2003-2005) to repeat as divisional champions in three consecutive seasons.

HE KEEPS GOING & GOING & GOING....:
A true AFL Ironman, Kyle Moore-Brown is in his 13th season in the league and has never missed a game. ArenaBowl XIX marked his AFL record 176th consecutive start. The first 139 all came with the Firebirds organization before he signed with the Crush prior to the 2004 season. Kyle's career milestone of 200 came against the New York Dragons on April 15, 2007.

STEEL CURTAIN:
After allowing 14 sacks in 2003 (12 on Dutton), the Crush pass protection has been stellar under head coach Mike Dailey.
The team allowed just four sacks in 2004, and none after Week 6. In 2005, Colorado allowed just six sacks, while holding 10 opponents sackless on the year.
Since 2004, the Crush have allowed just 22 sacks in their last 50 regular season games (total of 2,413 plays).
IT'S NOT OVER TILL IT'S OVER:
Since head coach Mike Dailey has arrived in Colorado in 2004, the Crush have claimed victory in the final minute of the game in seven contests.
