Worcester, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials were downed 7-2 by the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Tornadoes' starting pitcher Chris Farley (4-2) earned the win in seven innings of work, allowing two runs on eight hits and nine strike-outs.
Tornadoes right fielder Stantrel Smith (3-for-4,2 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) tripled and doubled twice to drive in a pair of runs for the home team, while teammate Mark Minicozzi (3-for-4, 2 RBI) also collected three hits and a pair of RBIs.
Pittsfield's Dan Carte (2-for-5, 2B) extended his league leading hitting streak to 19 consecutive games with a pair of late hits for Pittsfield. Second baseman Danny Bomback (2-for-4, 2 RBI) drove in a pair for the Colonials while teammate Rafael Cabreja (3-for-4, 2B) smacked a double and collected three hits in the game.
Colonials' starter David Qualben (1-4) took the loss over five and one-third innings, giving-up six runs (four earned) on eight hits, one walk, and four strike-outs.
The Colonials will continue the four game series with the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Wednesday night at 7:05pm when Kyle Zaleski (2-1) takes the ball for Pittsfield against Worcester's Jon Hollis (1-1).
