Colonials Split Twin-Bill with Jackals

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials split a double-header with the New Jersey Jackals at Wahconah Park on Tuesday night, winning game one 12-2 before losing 4-1 in game two.

Colonials starting pitcher David Qualben (5-7) pitched his league leading third complete game of the season in the game one victory, going all seven innings allowing two runs on five hits while allowing no walks and striking-out five. Game two starter.

Pittsfield scored six times in the first inning and never looked back, adding another in the second and five more runs in the sixth inning. Second baseman Danny Bomback (2-for-4, HR), Dan Carte (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI), Chris Torres (1-for-1, PH HR, 3 RBI) all blasted homers in the win.

In game two, Pittsfield starter Kyle Zaleski (7-6) suffered the loss over six innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits. Colonials designated hitter Donny Leon (1-for-3, HR) blasted a homer to knock in the Colonials' only run.

Jackals' starting pitcher Ryan Lobban (4-2) hurled a complete game win in game two dealing seven innings giving-up one run on four hits, one walk, and six strike-outs. First baseman Jabe Bergeron (1-for-3, HR) blasted his 16thhome run for New Jersey in the game.

The Colonials will conclude the series with New Jersey on Wednesday night at Wahconah Park when Patrick Moran (4-1) takes the hill against the Jackals' Jayson Miller (3-2) at 7:05pm.
