Colonials Scuffle in 14-2 Loss to Brockton

Brockton, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials fell 14-2 to the Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton on Tuesday morning.

Brockton's Keith Brachold (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) belted his league leading fifth home run of the season and drove in three runs for the Rox, while teammates Chris Valencia (1-for-4, 3 RBI), Melvin Falu (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and Dominic Ramos (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) also collected multiple RBIs in the game. Catcher Chris Grossman (3-for-4, 2B, RBI) tallied three hits to further help the home team.

Rox starting pitcher Mike Wlodarczyk (2-1) earned the win with six innings of work, allowing just one run on a balk, four hits, one walk, and five strike-outs. Reliever Buster Lussier gave up one run in two innings out of the bullpen.

Pittsfield's Matt Nandin (1-for-4, HR) homered for the second consecutive game and notched the lone RBI for the visitors in the game. Designated hitter Dan Carte (2-for-3, 2B) was the only Colonial to have a multi-hit game.

Colonials' starting pitcher Kyle Zaleski (1-1) took the loss allowing five runs on four hits, five walks, and five strike-outs. Relievers Corey Shepherd and Ivan Rusova allowed the other Brockton runs, Shepherd giving up two in one inning of work while Rusova allowed seven.

Pittsfield will continue their three game series in Brockton on Wednesday evening at 7:05pm when Miguel Flores (1-1) takes the ball for the Colonials against Brockton's Freddy Flores (1-0) at Campanelli Stadium.
