Boucher, Smith Can-Am League Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC -- The Can-Am League announced today that Quebec Capitales OF Sebastien Boucher and Brockton Rox RHP Mike Smith have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.

Boucher hit .538 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in six games. He also scored eight runs and collected 14 hits. The Ottawa, ON resident went 3-for- 4 with a home run and five RBIs in the 15-1 win over the Worcester Tornadoes this past Monday. Boucher on the season is hitting .449 with three home runs and 21 runs driven in. He currently is first in batting average and RBIs while tied for second in home runs.

Smith went 1-0 this past week with a 1.80 ERA in 15 innings pitched. He allowed three earned runs and 10 hits while fanning 14 batters. The veteran righty, in the 3-1 win over the Sussex Skyhawks Tuesday, went eight innings and gave an earned run on three hits with six strikeouts. Smith is 2-1 on the season with an earned run average of 1.98 and 25 strikeouts (first in the league).
