Brockton, Mass. - The Brockton Rox erupted for 14 runs on 12 hits as they demolished the Pittsfield Colonials, 14-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Campanelli Stadium. LHP Mike Wlodarczyk earned the victory for Brockton with six innings pitched, allowing just one run.

The Colonials (5-12) actually took the initial lead of the game in the second inning on a balk by Wlodarczyk. After that, the Rox (8-9) would score 14 straight runs.

Brockton plated two, two-out runs on a double by SS Dominic Ramos in the second inning. They would add three more in the fourth inning on a wild pitch and a two-run single off the bat of CF Chris Valencia. The lead was pushed to 7-1 in the fifth on RF Keith Brachold's fifth homer of the year, a two-run shot.

The seventh inning saw the Rox double up their lead sending 12 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs on five hits. DH Clyde Williams, 2B Scott Wearne, C Chris Grossman, Valencia, 1B Melvin Falu and Brachold all drove runs in during the frame.

Wlodarczyk (2-1), in earning the victory in six innings pitched, surrendered just the one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk. RHP Buster Lussier allowed his first run of the season in going two innings, while LHP Brad Hertzler pitched a scoreless ninth for the Rox.

Pittsfield starting RHP Kyle Zaleski (1-1) dropped the decision, as he gave up five earned runs on four hits in four innings of work with five strikeouts and five walks. Four bullpen pitchers combined to allow another nine Brockton runs.

Four Rox hitters had at least two base-knocks on the day as Grossman led the way with a 3-for-4 outing. Falu was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Brachold finished 2-for-3 with the homer and three RBI. Ramos went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in.

DH Daniel Carte was the only Colonial with two hits, finishing the day 2-for-3. The lone RBI of the game for Pittsfield was off the bat of SS Matt Nandin, who stroked a solo home run in the eighth off Lussier.

The three-game series continues on Wednesday night with a 7:05 first pitch with RHP Freddy Flores (1-0) on the hill taking on Pittsfield RHP Miguel A. Flores (1-1).

Earlier today the Rox announced the acquisition of RHP Hunter Davis from St. Paul of the American Association for a player to be named later. With the Saints, Davis made 14 appearances and compiled a record of 0-3 with a 5.54 ERA. To make room on the roster, Brockton released LHP Dustin Birosak.
