PITTSFIELD, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials plated a run in the bottom of the eighth inning that proved to be the difference as the Colonials downed the Newark Bears 2-1 for their fifth straight win.

Tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Danny Bomback got things going with a one out double. Billy Mottram followed with a walk. With Angel Molina at the plate, Bomback was able to steal third. Pittsfield tallied the first run of the game in the first inning when with the bases loaded, Molina grounded out to third, scoring Jerod Edmondson for a 1-0 lead.

Newark would find the equalizer in the sixth when Ryan Walsh singled home Daryle Ward to knot the game at 1-1.

Mike Zenko (5-0) got the win going two scoreless innings. Rafael Lluberes came in and picked up his third save with a scoreless ninth. T. J. Hose (1-1) took the loss for Newark. The starters pitched well, as both Miguel Flores and Alex Smith allowed one run on five hits in six innings. Flores struck out seven while Smith whiffed four.
