
Colonials Hold On, Beat Brockton 8-7

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials survived a late rally but held on to beat the Brockton Rox 8-7 at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield on Sunday afternoon.
Colonials' starter Miguel Flores (7-4) earned his fifth win in his last six starts giving up four runs over six and one-third innings pitched. Closer Juan Padilla survived a three-run homer by Brockton's Mike Conroy (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) in the ninth inning and eventually closed out the victory for Pittsfield
Colonials' Danny Bomback (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI), Jerod Edmondson, (2-for-5, 2B, HR, RBI), and Rafael Cabreja (3-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) each hit long balls for Pittsfield, led by Cabreja's perfect day at the plate.
Brockton starting pitcher Wayne Lundgren (7-5) took the loss after going four innings giving-up four runs on seven hits in the outing. Reliever Francisco Ortiz allowed three runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings out of the bull pen.
Rox first baseman Shawn Williams (4-for-5, 2 2B, RBI) collected four hits in the Rox efforts while teammate Melvin Falu (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) extended his Can-Am League homerun lead to 18 with a two-run blast in the game.
The Colonials will enjoy a league wide off-day on Monday before embarking on a six game road trip, beginning with three at Stade Municipal in Quebec City versus the Capitales on Tuesday night at 7:05pm.
