Colonials Clip Sussex in 3-2 Win

Augusta, NJ - The Pittsfield Colonials edged the Sussex Skyhawks 3-2 at Skylands Park on Friday night.

Colonials starting pitcher Jonny Venters (2-4) earned the win over seven inning of work, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, three walks, and three strike-outs. Closer Juan Padilla (12) recorded his third save in as many days, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Pittsfield left fielder Angel Molina (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) knocked in the game winning run with a deep wall-ball double in the eighth inning. Catcher Scott Knazek (1-for-3, RBI) had the only other RBI in the game for the winners.

Skyhawks' starter Tim Stringer did not factor in the decision, lasting five and two-thirds innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits, three walks, and four strike-outs. Reliever Donald Jordat (3-5) took the loss, allowing one run in an inning and two-thirds out of the bullpen.

The Colonials will continue the four game series against the Sussex Skyhawks on Saturday night at 7:05 when David Qualben (5-7) takes the ball for Pittsfield.
