Colonials Capitalize, Beat Quebec 9-3

Quebec City, QC - The Pittsfield Colonials used three home runs and a 14 hit attack to beat the Quebec Capitales 9-3 at Stade Municipal in Quebec City on Sunday afternoon.

Pittsfield's Dan Carte (3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) extended his league leading hitting streak to 18 consecutive games with three versus Quebec, including his team leading sixth home run of the season. Designated hitter Dan Bomback (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 SB) also left the yard and drove in a pair for the Colonials while teammate Jason Taylor (1-for-5, HR, 2 RBI) smacked his first home run of the season, a two-run shot. Left fielder Angel Molina (2-for-4, RBI, SB) added a pair of hits and had one of Pittsfield's five stolen bases in the ballgame used to help upend Quebec.

Colonials' starter Trevor Marcotte (1-1) earned the win over six and one-third innings, giving-up three runs on eight hits, three walks, and three strike-outs. Relievers David Wasylak and Shannon Sprouse combined to deal two and two-thirds scoreless innings to finish the game.

Capitales' starting pitcher Dan Sausville (4-2) suffered the loss after five and one-third innings of work, allowing four runs, (three earned) on nine hits and seven strike-outs. Reliever Steve Dube was tagged for four runs (three earned) in his professional debut and David Rossignal for one run out of the bullpen.

Quebec centerfielder Goefrey Tomlinson (3-for-4, 2 2B, RBI) doubled twice and drove in a run for the home team, while teammates Karl Gelinas (1-for-3, RBI) and Marc Mimeault (1-for-4, RBI) added RBIs.

The Colonials will enjoy a day off on Monday before starting a four game series with the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Tuesday night at 7:05pm.
