Brockton 5, New Jersey 4
In a tightly contested game, Brockton broke a tie by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh to clip New Jersey 5-4. Starter Wayne Lundgren tied Brockton's all-time record for wins with his 26th as a member of the Rox. Lundgren improved to 4-1 on the season by pitching eight innings and allowing four runs while striking out eight. Reliever Hunter Davis pitched a perfect ninth to earn his second save. Rox C Chris Grossman stayed hot by launching his third home run of the season and knocking in two.
Pittsfield 9, Quebec 3
Pittsfield DH Danny Bomback and RF Daniel Carte paced the Colonials offense in a 9-3 beating of Quebec. Bomback went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a fifth inning solo home run, and Carte finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the seventh. 3B Jason Taylor also contributed his first home run of the season. On the mound, Pittsfield starter Trevor Marcotte pitched 6.1 innings and allowed three runs to earn his first win.
Sussex 8, Worcester 2
Sussex's offense scored eight unanswered runs and buried Worcester 8-2. SS Chase Fontaine tallied two hits, three RBI, and his second home run of the season, and raised his season average to a scorching .392. Worcester 3B Chris Colabello hit his fourth home run in the last three games in the first inning to account for the Tornadoes' only offense. After the first inning home run, Worcester starter Jeff Icenogle and three relievers didn't allow a run the rest of the way.
