
College Park Skyhawks Acquire Johnny Hamilton and Second-Round Pick

COLLEGE PARK - The College Park Skyhawks acquired the returning player rights of Johnny Hamilton and a second-round pick in the upcoming G League Draft from the Grand Rapids Drive in exchange for the returning player rights of Craig Sword, the team announced today.
A Trinidad and Tobago native, Hamilton played on the Detroit Pistons Las Vegas Summer League team in 2018 before signing with the Grand Rapids Drive ahead of the 2018-19 season. In 49 games (20 starts) with the Drive, the 7'0" center nearly averaged a double-double, scoring 11.2 points (.564 FG%) and grabbing 8.8 rebounds per contest. Hamilton blocked 2.5 shots per game, good for seventh among G League leaders in the category.
Most recently, Hamilton played with the DarÃ¼à Ÿà Ÿafaka Tekfen Basketbol Club (Istanbul, Turkey) in the 2019 Actic Cup. He made four appearances with the Milwaukee Bucks Summer League team in 2019, averaging 3.5 points per game. Hamilton played two years at Jacksonville College (Jacksonville, Texas), before transferring to Virginia Tech for his junior and senior seasons. In 2017-18, he used his final year of basketball eligibility at the University of Texas at Arlington as a graduate transfer. With UT Arlington, Hamilton averaged 11.1 points (.629 FG%), 8.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 34 games (31 starts).
Sword, a 6'3" guard from Mississippi State, spent the past two seasons with the Erie BayHawks. During the 2018-19 season, he averaged 9.5 points (.494 FG%), 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 49 games for the former Atlanta Hawks G League affiliate.
The Skyhawks tip off the season on the road on Nov. 8, visiting the Erie BayHawks. College Park returns home to match up against the Delaware Blue Coats on Nov. 21, marking the first time the team plays at the Gateway Center Arena @ College Park.
