Coastal Bend Aviators News Release
ROBSTOWN, Texas -The Aviators are in line to sweep the San Angelo Colts after winning 5-1.
Marc Acierno picked up his second win of the season, both coming against the Colts, to improve to 2-3 on the season. A stellar performance on the hill was evident scattering four hits against a team hitting .300 collectively. Acierno was hands down Player of the Game as the Colt line up could not figure out the right hander's recipe of pitches.
The Aviator line up however beat up on the San Angelo pitching staff banging out 12 hits and scoring five runs. The defense united and played hard behind Acierno, not committing any errors. Kevin Henry and Mike Guerrero, alternating season long at first base, DH, and limited time in the outfield, combined for an impressive 7 for 8 at the plate. Both sluggers had struggles at the beginning of the season, though their bats are beginning to peak at the right time as the second half is in full swing.
The ace of the pitching staff, Jose Luis Lopez , will take the bump in the Aviators third and final game of the series versus San Angelo. Wednesday will be a much needed and deserved day off as the team will make preparations in traveling to El Paso to face the Diablos on Thursday, beginning a three game series.
