Jackson, MS; July 11, 2005 - The Jackson Senators of the Central Baseball League (CBL) announced today they have signed left-handed pitcher Joe Brown to their roster. Brown will be in uniform when the Senators return to action Tuesday night at Smith-Wills Stadium against the Ft. Worth Cats.
Brown, a Friendswood, TX native, joins the Sens after finishing his senior season at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He was a 2005 All Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performer after posting a 4-1 record with a 2.97 ERA and four saves in 22 appearances. He struck out 57 while allowing only 14 walks and opponents hit just .197 against him. Brown was also selected All-SCAC in 2002.
To make room on the roster, the Senators have released pitcher Daniel Hearn.
The Jackson Senators are part of the Central Baseball League, an independent league of eight professional baseball teams located throughout four southern states. The league is preparing for its twelfth season this summer with teams located in Edinburg, El Paso, Ft. Worth, Robstown, and San Angelo, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; Pensacola, Florida; and Jackson, Mississippi. The CBL will play a 94-game schedule between May and August 2005.
