
Coach White Returns for 2010-11 Season

Bismarck, N.D. (August 17, 2010) - The Dakota Wizards announced today that head coach Rory White will return for the 2010-11 season. In his first season as head coach he guided the team to a regular season record of 29-21 and a berth in the 2010 NBA Development League Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
"I'm very excited to be back as the head coach of the Dakota Wizards," said White. "I look forward to continuing the winning tradition in the Bismarck Civic Center and work hard to better our record on the road. I would like to bring another championship to the Wizards organization."
The fourth round pick of the Phoenix Suns in the 1982 NBA Draft, White spent five seasons in the NBA in which he averaged 7.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 16.7 minutes per game. His NBA stops included Phoenix, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Clippers during the five seasons. After his NBA playing career ended in 1987, White spent the rest of his playing days oversees and in the Continental Basketball Association.
White, a native of Tuskege, Alabama, ended his playing career with the F-M Fever of the CBA and would start is coaching career with the F-M Beez of the IBA. From 1995-98, he won two IBA championships with the Beez. In 1998 he was named assistant coach for the Idaho Stampede (CBA), remaining in that role until he was promoted to head coach during the 2000 season. He returned the next season and would post a league high .708 winning percentage and earn Coach of the Month honors twice during the season. White left Idaho in 2001 to serve once again as head coach of the F-M Beez (CBA), leading them to the National Conference Playoffs and the second best record in the league (25-15). White returned to the sidelines of the Stampede for the 2002-03 season.
Prior to being hired by the Wizards last season, White spent six seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers as the third assistant on Mike Dunleavy's bench. In his first season as a head coach in the NBA D-League, White coached a team of NBA legends and NBA D-League players in the Asia Challenge in 2009.
"We are delighted to have Rory back as our head coach for the upcoming season," Wizards general manager Terri Benson said.
