Cleveland set for back-to-back games

CLEVELAND, OHIO - - The Cleveland Force will host a pair of weekend games this Friday and Saturday night when the team plays host to the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Division Kansas City Comets on Friday, December 3 followed by facing the two-time defending MISL Champion and Eastern Division Baltimore Blast on Saturday, December 4 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.

Both games can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM or WHKW 1440 AM in Warren/Youngstown or live worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com. The match on Friday is scheduled to begin at 7:35 p.m. while Saturday's game is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Cleveland comes into the contest with a record of 3-3 overall, 0-0 versus Western Division opponents, 1-1 versus Eastern Division opponents and 2-1 at the Convocation Center. The Force defeated the Philadelphia KiXX by a final score off 6-3 on November 26 at the Convo. Cleveland is currently in second place in the Eastern Division 1.5 games behind Philadelphia and 2.0 games ahead of the Blast in third place.

The Comets enter the game with a record of 1-3 overall, 0-0 versus Eastern Division opponents and 1-2 on the road. Kansas City fell to the St. Louis Steamers by a final score off 7-6 last Saturday. The Comets are currently in tied for first place the Western Division with the San Diego Sockers and 1.0 game ahead of the Monterrey Tigres in third place.

Baltimore comes into the contest with a record of 2-6 overall, 0-2 versus Eastern Division opponents and 1-2 on the road. The Blast, who have been hit by the injury bug, have lost their last five games including their last game on November 20 to the Steamers by a final score of 12-9.

Last season, the Force won the season series with Kansas City 3-1 last year, including winning both games in Cleveland. The Comets out shot the Force 136-122 while Cleveland held the advantage in saves category 65-55. The Force led the man advantage connecting on 6-12 (.500) power plays while Kansas City was 6-14 (.429).

The returning scorer in the season series versus the Comets was forward Adauto Neto with four points. Defender John Ball mad midfielder Myles Stoddard return as the second leading scorers with three points apiece.

Kansas City was led by forward Dino Delevski with nine points in the series while forward Miodrag "Mickey" Djerisilo was second with eight points.

In the season series with the Baltimore, Cleveland was unable to post a victory going 0-6. The Blast out shot the Force 182-171 in the six games while Cleveland led in the saves category recording 81 to 73 for Baltimore. The Blast held the advantage on the extra man going 7-12 (.583) to 4-8 (.500) for the Force on the man advantage.

The Cleveland returning leader versus Baltimore last season was Neto with seven points. Forward Joel Bailey and Ball return as the second leading scorers with four points apiece.

The Blast were led last season by forward Carlos "Chile" Farias with 15 points while forward Denison Cabral, who will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury, recorded 12 points.
