
Cleveland Gladiators Step Up to Save Lives

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators are pleased to announce they are stepping up to help save lives with the American Red Cross. The team will hold a blood drive on Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the Gateway Plaza located between Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field.
The blood drive is a part of American Red Cross Day with the Gladiators. All who come to donate will receive an American Red Cross t-shirt and a $15 ticket voucher for the Gladiators game that night, when they host the division-leading Dallas Desperados at 7:07 p.m. In addition, those who come to donate will also be entered to win:
- Two (2) tickets to any remaining 2008 regular season home games
- Bernie Kosar autographed football
- Bernie Kosar autographed jersey
"The summer months are a typically low collection time for the American Red Cross with schools out and donors busy with a variety of summer activities. We are so thankful for sponsors like the Cleveland Gladiators who step forward to help us meet the blood supply needs of patients throughout northern Ohio," says Christy Chapman, Communications Specialist for the American Red Cross.
"It is such a great opportunity for our fans to support the American Red Cross by donating blood," said Cleveland Gladiators President and CEO Bernie Kosar. "We have the greatest fans in the world and by supporting the American Red Cross, they will prove it even more."
Donors are encouraged to call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to schedule an appointment or visit www.GiveLife.org and enter the sponsor code "gladiators" to schedule online. Walk-in donors will also be accepted. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and present a valid Red Cross donor card or state-issued photo ID upon donation. The Cleveland Gladiators return home for their first Saturday night game as they host the Dallas Desperados at Quicken Loans Arena on May 31. Saturday, June 7 versus the Chicago Rush is Buck Night - with $1 Hot Dogs and $1 Soft Drinks. On Saturday, June 21, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Bernie Kosar Bobblehead as the Gladiators host the in-state rival Columbus Destroyers.
