AFL Appoints Business and Community Leaders to First-Ever Arenabowl Advisory Committee
May 28, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - In an effort to expand on the Arena Football League's footprint in the New Orleans community, the AFL announced today the creation of an ArenaBowl Advisory Committee. Business and community leaders from the Crescent City were selected to create a network for advice and recommendations for ArenaBowl XXII Weekend, July 25-27.
The ArenaBowl Advisory Committee will work with the League Office throughout the next two months providing access to relationships and programs so the League can develop partnerships to create a total community event that allows AFL fans to fully experience New Orleans.
"New Orleans is a city with a wealth of team and league championship knowledge," said DAVID HANEY, AFL SVP Marketing and Fan Development. "We searched New Orleans to find those business and community leaders whose fingers are on the pulse of the city in hopes that creating this relationship will enhance the overall ArenaBowl XXII Weekend experience."
New Orleans VooDoo President and Owner RITA BENSON LEBLANC is serving as the committee's Chairperson while JILL BOKALDERS, VP Special Events & Game Operations of the AFL, JAY CICERO, President of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and MIKE STANFIELD, VP, New Orleans VooDoo have been selected for Executive Committee roles.
