Lake Country DockHounds News Release
OCONOMOWOC, WI. - The Cleburne Railroaders took game one against the Lake Country DockHounds 9-8 Friday evening.
It was an eventful night at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park in a contest that had scoring in every inning, except for the last two.
The first play of the night came when Tristen Carranza lost control of the baseball on a routine putout. Cleburne would score an unearned run when Edwin Arroyo singled in the first inning. The Railroaders would ultimately score three in the first half inning.
The DockHounds responded immediately in their half of the first when Daikan Yoh and TJ Bennett had solo home runs.
The 'Roaders scored one in the second frame off of Nick Shumpert's double and in the third with Chase Simpson's solo homer. But Lake Country had other plans in the fourth inning, as Jake Snider smacked a grand slam, his sixth long ball in 2022. You can watch the highlight HERE . The score was then 6-5 DockHounds.
Jordan Schaffer knocked in Casey Dykstra with an RBI single in the fourth. Cleburne put up three runs in the fifth with a pair of singles.
Lake Country would score in the sixth when Yoh grounded into a double play. It would even the game score at eight runs.
The tie would be broken in the seventh when Chuck Taylor singled to drive in a run, but Shumpert was tagged out at third base. The umpire ruled that Jacob Bockelie scored before the tag was applied, giving the 9-8 lead to Cleburne. However, no scores would come after the seventh inning, giving the RailRoaders a one-run victory.
Four DockHounds were hit by a pitch, and many of them ended up scoring. Cleburne tallied 18 hits on the contest.
The DockHounds will continue their homestand with game two of the series against the Cleburne Railroaders on Saturday, August 6th. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Broadcaster Sam Matheny will be on the call, live from Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
