Cleburne Completes Sweep in Chicago with Wild 10-9 Win

CLEBURNE, Texas - The Railroader offense has been producing runs, and it needed 10 to complete the road sweep of the Chicago Dogs on Thursday night.

First baseman Frankie Tostado provided yet another three-RBI game, with all three coming on a towering home run to right. It was Tostado's third home run of the season and gave him the team lead with 26 RBIs. Just behind him is infielder Caleb McNeely.

McNeely is arguably the hottest hitter on the team at the moment, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a double in the series finale.

Cody Thomas has certainly enjoyed hitting in Chicago. His first two home runs of the season came on the road against the Dogs (13-22), and he left the yard again Thursday for his fourth home run of the season. Thomas finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

A roller-coaster affair, both teams put up big innings. Cleburne opened the scoring in the first with Thomas' two-out home run. Chicago pushed a run across in the bottom of the first, but Cleburne applied the pressure with a four-run sixth inning. Chicago then answered with eight runs across the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to get back into the game, but veteran leadership secured the win for Cleburne.

Mallex Smith singled in the ninth, and with one out in the inning, Delino DeShields Jr. tripled to score Smith. It was DeShields' second RBI of the game and 15th of the season in a 1-for-4 day at the plate.

Ryder Yakel picked up his sixth save. Yakel sports a 1.88 ERA.

The Railroaders now head to Milwaukee for the first time this season to face the league-leading Milwaukee Milkmen, who own the best record in the American Association at 24-13. The Milkmen are coming off a 9-4 loss to Lake Country on Thursday.

Cleburne is 6-4 over its last 10 games. The Railroaders return home to finish June and begin July as they approach the halfway mark of the season. Cleburne will start a six-game homestand against the Lake Country DockHounds on Tuesday, June 30.
