Claws Blanked Sunday, But Take Series in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE - The BlueClaws were shutout Sunday in Wilmington 4-0 but return to the Jersey Shore taking four of seven in the series from the Blue Rocks.

The BlueClaws (35-61) have now taken their last two road series and won four of seven this week from Wilmington (50-45).

Jersey Shore entered Sunday having thrown back to back to back shutouts, but their 27 inning scoreless streak was snapped quickly on a first inning RBI double by Wilmington's Drew Millas off starter Dominic Pipkin (1-6).

Kevin Strohschein homered, his third of the year, in the fourth to put the Blue Rocks ahead 3-0.

Pipkin came out after 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits.

Jordy Barley homered off Brett Schulze, his second of the year, in the fifth for the final run of the game.

Carlos Francisco, Jason Ruffcorn, and Jonathan Hughes threw scoreless innings in relief for Jersey Shore.

Meanwhile, Blue Rocks starter Dustin Saenz (1-2) gave up three hits over his five scoreless innings as he earned his first Wilmington win.

Ethan Wilson had two hits for the BlueClaws.
