Clancy and Johnsen named CBA All-Stars

Boise, Idaho (January 11, 2005) – Two Idaho Stampede players have been selected for the 21st CBA All-Star Classic in Gary, Ind. Forwards Sam Clancy and Britton Johnsen were named to the Western Conference All-Star team in a vote of CBA coaches. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19.

Game day festivities will begin at 6 pm with the CBA Long Distance Shootout, followed by the Slam Dunk Competition at 6:30 pm. Upon completion of the skills competitions, the 21st CBA All-Star Classic is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 pm. During the contest, members of the media and NBA scouts will select the All-Star Most Valuable Player, to be announced after the game.

The Stampede faces the Yakima SunKings tonight in Yakima. The team returns to Idaho for a Wednesday night contest with the same SunKing squad. Tickets are available by calling 388-HOOP.

SAM CLANCY --6-7, 245, Idaho Stampede (USC '02): Second All-Star selection (2004)...Currently ranks 2nd in the League in rebounding (10.5 rpg), and 3rd in blocked shots (2.4 bpg)...Is also averaging 14.4 points per game in 22 games played (all started)... Was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round (45th overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft...Played with the CBA's Yakima Sun Kings during the 2003-04 season, averaging 13.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game...Was selected as a 2004 CBA All-Star, where he posted 15 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes of action...Played college basketball at USC from 1998-2002...Averaged 19.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for the Trojans during their 2001-02 season...Was named 2001 & 2002 All Pac-10 First-Team...Helped the Trojans to a 2001 NCAA Elite Eight tournament appearance...Was named 2002 Pac-10 Player of the Year.

BRITTON JOHNSEN – F, 6-10, 210, Idaho Stampede (Utah '03): First All-Star selection...Currently ranks 4th in the League in scoring (19.9 ppg), and 7th in free-throw percentage (.851, 57 of 67)...Is also averaging 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 14 games played (12 started)...Was called-up to the NBA's Indiana Pacers on November 24...Drafted by the Gary Steelheads in the third round (19th overall) of the 2003 CBA Draft...Played for the NBA's Orlando Magic during the 2003-04 season averaging 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game...Played collegiately for the University of Utah...Averaged 11.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists for the Utes during the 2002-03 season (senior year)...Was named to the 2001 & 2003 All-Mountain West Conference Second-Team...Was Named 2002 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.
