Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(SAN JOSE, CA) - JetHawks pitcher Jose Cisnero seems to have shrugged off his battles with inconsistency this season. The flamethrower won his third straight start, striking out nine along the way, as the JetHawks defeated the San Jose Giants 6-1.

The offense started for Lancaster in the first inning and the JetHawks never trailed. Miguel Arrendell and Austin Wates opened the game with a pair of singles. A groundout brought Arrendell home while Wates scored on a RBI double by David Flores to put Lancaster ahead 2-0.

The pitching took things the rest of the way. Cisnero worked in the seventh inning, only allowing one run and four hits. In his winning streak, Cisnero has struck out 31 batters.

Kyle Greenwalt, who had just rejoined the JetHawks after starting for Lancaster in 2010, made his season debut for the club and pitched two and 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

While the pitching led the way, the offense provided comfort with some extra runs. Flores knocked a two-run single in the fifth inning while Jonathan Meyer drove in another with a hit in the seventh.

The pitcher the JetHawks beat, Craig Westcott, was the leader in the California League in both wins and ERA.

The JetHawks will try to make it two in a row with a rare day game Thursday afternoon in San Jose. Zach Grimmett (4-7) will start for Lancaster. The game starts at 12:35 and will be broadcast live on radio by 87.7 Kickin' Country and online at CSN at JetHawks.com (click the listen live link). The Pre-Game Show starts at 12:20.

The JetHawks return home Wednesday, August 3 to open a four-game homestand against the Inland Empire 66ers. For tickets and other information, call (661) 726-5400 or visit JetHawks.com.
