Idaho Falls Chukars News Release


The Kansas City Royals have passed along the names of the remaining players who will join the Idaho Falls Chukars out of extended spring training. In all, 11 players have been added to the roster for the upcoming Pioneer League season. All 15 of the players now on the roster have played professional baseball coming into this season. The 11 new players include four pitchers and seven position players:

Starling De La Rosa
'06 Undrafted Free Agent
Finished with 26 K's and allowed 8 BB's over 17.2 IP last season in Arizona League, but had a 6.11 ERA.

Chris Fortuna
'07 Undrafted Free Agent
Went 3-6 with a 4.09 ERA in eight starts and 13 total appearances with the Burlington Royals last season.

Leondy Perez
'07 Undrafted Free Agent
Had a 3.84 ERA and 62 K's in 63.1 IP as a starter in the Appalachian League during the '09 season.

Travis Jones
50th Round of 2008 Draft
Hit .144 in 43 games in the Appalachian League last year, but nine of his 21 hits were for extra bases.

Jake Kuebler
17th Round of 2008 Draft
Played all of the 2009 season in the Carolina League (High-A), but hit just .215. Is the cousin of Alex Gordon.

Yowill Espinal
'07 Undrafted Free Agent
Hit .246 with 20 extra-base hits (7 HR) and 20 steals in 63 games while playing mostly SS for the Burlington Royals.

Justin Trapp
34th Round of 2009 Draft
Batted .262 and stole 12 bases in 32 games with the Surprise Royals of the Arizona League in 2009.

Cameron Monger
27th Round of 2009 Draft
After being drafted by the Padres the CF hit .295 in 52 games and had the 2nd most steals (29) in the Arizona League in 2009.

Lane Adams
13th Round of 2009 Draft
In 29 games with the Surprise Royals last season he hit .233 and stole 14 bases in 15 attempts.

Anthony Howard
47th Round of 2009 Draft
Stole 11 bases in 13 attempts while hitting .191 in 29 games for the Surprise Royals of the Appalachian League in 2009.
