Chukars Release 2012 Position Players

The roster for the 2012 Idaho Falls Chukars is now complete with the addition of the 17 position players, which includes three players who spent at least part of last season with the club.

Shortstops Nick DelGuidice and Adrian Martinez both return to Idaho Falls for a second go around, along with outfielder Ysmelin Alcantara. The three returnees are joined by 14 other players, including three which were recently drafted or signed by the Royals.

Jack Lopez (SS) - Deltona (FLA) HS

Adrian Martinez (SS) - San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic

Adalberto Mondesi (SS) - Dominican Republic

Jared Schlehuber (1B) - Oral Roberts University

Julio Aparicio (LF) - Panama City, Panama

Jerico Blanco (OF) - Caracas, Venezuela

Ethan Chapman (OF) - Cal St. San Bernardino

Elier Hernandez (OF) - San Cristobal, Domican Republic

Ysmelin Alcantara (OF) - San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic

Morin (14th Round) was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection while leading the Utes with a .314 average, 35 RBI and 69 hits while also leading the Pac-12 with 33 runners caught steeling. Chapman (30th Round) led his Coyotes squad in hits (66) total bases (88) and triples (6) while finishing second with a .330 average. Schlehuber (Non-Drafted Free Agent), meanwhile, led his Golden Eagle's squad in home runs (13), OBP (.414) and walks (37) while placing second in average (.316), RBI (56) and total bases (125).

The remaining eight players are all from the Royals system and their bios/stats are available at the Minor League Baseball website (www.milb.com).

The Chukars kick off their season with an exhibition game on Friday, June 15th against the American Legion Idaho Falls Bandits. The fundraising contest is the first of its kind in Idaho Falls, with all ticket proceeds going to support Legion Baseball. GA tickets start at just $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors, with just a $1 upgrade fee for a box seat. Season seat holders and suite owners have complimentary tickets for the contest included in their packages.

The Chukars open their season on June 18th with a home game against the Orem Owlz. Single game tickets are now available on the team's website (www.ifchukars.com) or by calling or visiting the front office at 900 Jim Garchow Way.
