Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

The Idaho Falls Chukars won for the third straight night to start the current home stand at Melaleuca Field. Saturday the Chukars defeated the Great Falls Voyagers 8-6 thanks to an eighth inning rally.

Chukars' starter Colby Beach looked strong early and Idaho Falls went to the fifth inning leading 3-1. In the fifth the wheels seemed to come off when the Voyagers scored five runs. The Chukars put one run on the board in the bottom of the fifth, but still trailed 6-4. The Chukars sent eight batters to the plate in a four-run eighth to take the lead. The inning started with a double by Sean McCauley, which was followed by a Devery Van De Keere single. McCauley came home after Juan Graterol reached on an error. Van De Keere scored when Carlo Testa hit into a ground out. Hits by Neder Severino and J.D. Alfaro scored the final two runs of game.

Three players for Idaho Falls had a multi-hit game, led by Alfaro. The shortstop went 3-for-4, with a triple, home run, a stolen base, a run, and two runs scored. Van De Keere and Alwin Perez had two hits each in the victory.

The final line for Beach was rough, with four earned runs, but he avoided the loss. Orlando Rada and Tim Huber combined to throw four shutout innings out of the bullpen. The two relievers allowed only one hit and one walk during their time on the mound. Huber improved to 1-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.40.

By winning the first three games against Great Falls the Chukars have already won the four-game series. Idaho Falls goes for the sweep Sunday at 4:00.
