
Chukars Dominate Vibes in 17-9 Victory to Open Series - Idaho Falls Chukars

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Idaho Falls Chukars (9-3) lead wire-to-wire in a 17-9 victory over the Rocky Mountain Vibes (1-10) on Tuesday night at UC Health Park. The Chukars torched the Vibes pitching staff with 20 hits.
Matt Feinstein and Hunter Hisky connected for back-to-back singles with one out in the first to put runners at the corners against starter Garrett Alverez (L, 0-2). Feinstein scored on an RBI groundout from Calvin Estrada, putting the Chukars up 1-0. Three more runs came across in the second on a bases-loaded walk from Feinstein, and a two-run single from Hisky that made it 4-0.
Dusty Stroup and Brady West singled to leadoff the third. Sam Troyer stepped to the plate with two outs and belted a two-run triple to pad the lead 6-0. Steve Barmakian drove him home on a single to make it 7-0.
The Vibes scratched a run across in the bottom third on a sac fly from Gio GIaz against Chukars starter Joe Slocum, down 7-1 to Idaho Falls.
Facing Yosmel Naranjo in the fourth, the Chukars scored three runs on a two-run doubl;e from Brady West and an RBI groundout from Andrew Don, leading 10-1 over the Vibes. Idaho Falls knocked in three more runs in the fifth on a Feinstein double, and two RBI groundouts from Hisky and Rick Phillips, out to their biggest lead of the season, 13-1.
The Vibes, however, did not go down quietly. Facing Slocum in the bottom fifth, the Vibes chased him from the game on four singles that scored four runs, cutting into the deficit 13-5. Slocum was replaced on the mound by Jacob Asa, who until the sixth giving up four runs, one earned, gave Rocky Mountain a ray of hope, down 13-9. With one out in the sixth, Keagan McGinnis (W, 1-0) toed the plate for the final outs of the inning.
Any hope for a Vibes comeback was dashed by a four-spot the Chukars put up in the seventh inning. Feinstein singled and swiped both second and third, coming home to score on a Phillips double that gave the Chukars a 14-9 advantage. West doubled home Philips, and Dusty Stroup belted a two-run homer to put the game out of reach, 17-9.
Victor Rodriguez tossed the final two innings, racking up three strikeouts. Troyer finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 5-6 with two RBI.
The series continues tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MDT. Idaho Falls will start RHP Daniel Silva (0-1, 10.50 ERA) and the Vibes? starter is TBD.
