INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indianapolis Ice had four finalists in the CHL's "Best of the Best" poll results. The results list the top three players for each category as voted on by player representatives from all 17 Central Hockey League teams.

Leading the Ice with multiple mentions were the veteran defensive duo of Bernie John and Mario Doyon. John placed first in the categories of "Best on the Power Play" and "Best Offensive Defenseman" and finished a close second behind Colorado's Greg Pankewicz for "Best Overall Player." John's 43 first place votes for "Best Offensive Defenseman" was the most for any of the 34 categories.

John's fellow blueliner Mario Doyon was also recognized for a couple of awards for his accomplishments throughout the year. He finished second to John in the category for "Best Offensive Defenseman" and his "rocket slap shots" earned him third place in the category of "Hardest Shooter" in the CHL.

Rounding out the Ice honorees were forwards Jason Baird and Dave Gilmore. Baird's breakthrough season was noticed by his peers as he was selected second in the category for "Best Power Forward." Gilmore's work at the center position earned him a third place finish in the category of "Best Player on Face-offs."
