Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, October 6, 2008) - Chivas USA defender Shavar Thomas has been named by interim head coach Theodore Whitmore to the Jamaican National Team's 22-player roster for upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico (Oct. 11) and Honduras (Oct. 15), both to be played at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

Thomas, who has made a total of 12 appearances with the senior Jamaican National Team, was also part of Jamaica's squad for the Reggae Boyz' last two World Cup Qualifiers, also against Mexico and Honduras, both on the road. So far in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, Jamaica has one draw and two losses in three games, and is tied with Canada for the bottom spot in its group.

With Chivas USA in 2008, Thomas has played in 17 games (starting 16), logging 1418 minutes, including starts in the Chivas USA's last three games, all wins.

Just three matches remain in the 2008 regular season for Chivas USA as the team pushes for a third consecutive trip to the playoffs. First up is an Oct. 11 trip visit to the San Jose Earthquakes. The Red-and-White then close with a pair of home matches, hosting the Colorado Rapids on Oct. 19, followed by Fan Appreciation Night against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 25.
