Chivas USA's Jorge Flores named to U.S. U-20 roster for FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, August 28, 2009) - Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores, a native of Anaheim, Calif. and member of the Red-and-White since the 2007 season, has been named to the United States Under-20 National Team's 21-player roster for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt by head coach Thomas Rongen. Flores has been a mainstay on the U.S. U-20's since the start of 2008, and will join the team after Chivas USA's home match against the New England Revolution on Sunday, Sept. 13 at The Home Depot Center.

The U.S. team will depart for Larnaca, Cyprus, on Sept. 14 and play a final tune-up against Australia before traveling to Suez, Egypt, on Sept. 21. The U.S. opens against Germany on Sept. 26 at 7:00 a.m. PT, then faces Cameroon on Sept. 29 at 9:45 a.m. PT and closes group play against South Korea on Oct. 2 at 9:45 a.m. PT. All three of the USA's group matches will be played at the brand new Mubarak Stadium in Suez, and will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, as well as Galavision.

In three seasons with Chivas USA, Flores has played 17 regular-season MLS matches (8 starts), scoring three goals. The Anaheim, Calif. native was with the U.S. U-20's for various international tournaments and training camps in 2008 and 2009, and most recently scored twice in three games for the U.S. at the Copa Ciudad de Rosario in Argentina. Flores first rose to prominence with Chivas USA after he was officially named the winner of 'Sueño MLS', a nationally televised open tryout held by Chivas USA and MLS in 2007.
