ROJIBLANCOS TO HOST SECOND SCRIMMAGE ON FRIDAY

Because of a change in Chivas USA's MLS schedule made to accommodate CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, the Red-and-White have a bye week, as their match at Seattle - originally programmed for April 7 - was moved to Sept. 4. As a result, the Goats will host a scrimmage this Friday against Cal FC at a field to be determined at 10 a.m.*

*Note: Match was originally announced to start at 9 a.m. and has now been changed.

GOATS FALL 2-1 IN FIRST OF TWO SCRIMMAGES

Playing with a starting eleven comprised of mostly back-up players, Chivas USA fell 2-1 Tuesday morning to OC Spartans FC at The Home Depot Center's Field 6. The Rojiblancos knocked in their lone goal in the second half on a deflected shot by Marco Delgado. But the visiting side was led by two second-half scores, the first coming on a penalty kick by Leopoldo Morales and the game-winner by Manuel Asprilla.

ERIC AVILA NOMINATED FOR MLS GOAL OF THE WEEK AND LATINO DE LA JORNADA

Chivas USA midfielder Eric Avila recorded his first goal of the season in last Saturday's 2-1 win at home versus Western Conference foe Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The SoCal native, in his first year with the Red-and-White, scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 55th minute when he sent his first-time volley strike from inside the box past Vancouver's goalkeeper, and for his efforts, Avila is nominated for MLS' Goal of the Week as well as Latino de la Jornada. TIME CHANGE FOR JULY 28 MATCH AT SEATTLE

Chivas USA announced today that the kickoff time for its July 28 road match versus Seattle has been moved to 8 p.m. (PT) The Western Conference battle was originally programmed for 6 p.m. (PT). The sides meet three times this season, with the Goats serving as the host side once.

ROOKIE CARLOS ALVAREZ MEET-AND-GREET

Second-overall MLS SuperDraft pick and Los Angeles native Carlos Alvarez will be in attendance for a meet-and-greet at The Shops at Montebello on Sunday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. Chivas USA has partnered with The Shops at Montebello for the upcoming 2013 season. Customers and fans will receive exclusive access to events and offers, such as autograph signings by Chivas USA players and the ChivaFighter Mascot.

Chivas USA in Sole Possession of Second Place in the Western Conference

Chivas USA heads into Week 6 with a bye and in sole possession of second place in the Western Conference with ten points. The Rojiblancos, fresh off a 2-1 home win against conference opponent Vancouver Whitecaps FC last Saturday, are unbeaten in four straight and will look to win their third straight when they host conference rival the Colorado Rapids on April 13.

Red-and-White Tops in Goals Scored

Chivas USA has recorded a league-high ten goals, and is averaging 2.5 goals in its last four matches. The Rojiblancos of last season did not score their tenth goal until the 15th game. Last year's squad had one game in which they recorded three goals and it came in late August. This years Red-and-White, under new Head Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola "Chelis" already recorded a four-goal performance by Week 4.
