Chivas USA Update: Burling removed from DL, Suárez added

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, July 10, 2009) - Chivas USA today removed defender Bobby Burling from its Disabled List. Burling, 24, had been on the DL since undergoing sports hernia surgery on March 5, less than two weeks before Chivas USA's season opener.

In a separate transaction, Chivas USA added defender Claudio Suárez to its Disabled List. Suárez, 40, suffered a right calf strain on June 27 in Chivas USA's 1-1 draw with Mexican club San Luis in SuperLiga group play. The Mexican defender will be out of action for a minimum of six regular-season MLS matches.

In other news, Suárez and fellow Chivas USA international Atiba Harris (St. Kitts) and have received their U.S. green cards. As a result, both Suárez and Harris will count as 'domestic' players for MLS roster purposes.

Finally, Chivas USA midfielder Kevin Harmse has received his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 work visa. The 24-year-old Canadian international, acquired by Chivas USA on June 24 in a trade with Toronto FC, is now eligible to make his debut for the club.
