Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Monday, June 9, 2014) - Chivas USA announced today the club has partnered with Coast Soccer League and its "No Victory Without Honor" program (NVWH) to help create a better experience for CSL athletes and their families by promoting a fun and safe soccer environment.
"Chivas USA is extremely proud to support the 'No Victory Without Honor' program initiated by Coast Soccer League," said Chivas USA President Nelson RodrÃ-guez. "Winning just does not matter if it lacks dignity, respect and sportsmanship. We commend CSL for leading the way in how to compete fairly and with honor."
Since the inception of the program in 2011, CSL has asked its teams to follow simple standards to ensure that its players achieve success on and off the field. Thus far, more than 7,000 athletes have benefited from putting into practice these guidelines while finding success in their everyday lives.
"Chivas USA, CSL and Xara have partnered together to change the environment in which the game is played," expressed CSL Chairman Gary Sparks. "Having Chivas USA as a partner sends a clear message that even professional players have a vested interest in promoting a change in the current temperament in which the players, coaches and referees approach the game. Together, we hope to provide a better and safer soccer environment for everyone."
By joining forces, Chivas USA and CSL will provide more than 600 Southern California teams with an added incentive to join the NVWH program. In support of the initiative, the Red-and-White will host each player, head coach and manager who register for the program, at one of the three (3) specially designated Goats' home games during the 2014 season (July 5 vs. Montreal Impact, Aug. 31 vs. LA Galaxy, Oct. 5 vs. Real Salt Lake).
All NVWH participants will not only experience a professional match first hand, but will also be given the opportunity to meet some of their role models, such as former CSL products and current Chivas captain Carlos Bocanegra and goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, among others.
Chivas USA will host their next home game against Western Conference foe and defending Conference Champions Real Salt Lake on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT). The match will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Deportes and can also be heard on ESPN Deportes Radio KWKU 1220 AM. Tickets for the conference battle are available for purchase here or by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
