
Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores called in to U.S. U-20's training camp

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009) - Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores has been called in to the United States Under-20 National Team camp by head coach Thomas Rongen. Flores arrived today in Bradenton, Fla., where a 26-player group will train until Feb. 15 as part of final preparations for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which takes place in Trinidad and Tobago from March 6-15.
After the camp, Rongen will name a 20-player squad that will regroup in Bradenton on Feb. 24 before departing for Tobago on March 2. The U.S. has been drawn into Group A of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship and will open its campaign against Jamaica on March 6 before taking on either Honduras or St. Vincent & the Grenadines on March 8 and El Salvador on March 10.
In 2008, his second year as a professional , Flores played in 11 regular-season MLS matches (six starts) for Chivas USA, scoring three goals. The Anaheim, Calif. native was also with the U.S. U-20's for several international tournaments, including the Copa Chivas (Mexico), the Campos Verdes International Tournament (Portugal), and the Milk Cup (Northern Ireland). In May, Flores joined the U.S. U-20's for a pair of friendlies in England against English Premier League reserve teams, in which he recorded a goal and an assist.
