
Chivas USA Forward Caleb Calvert Selected to the 2014 Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game

NEW YORK (Wednesday, July 9, 2014) - Chivas USA forward Caleb Calvert has been selected to be among Major League Soccer's top 20 Homegrown players who will travel to Portland to compete in the inaugural Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game against the Portland Timbers Under-23 team. The Aug. 4 match will take place at Providence Park beginning at 7 p.m. (PT) as part of the festivities leading up to the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. The action will be streamed live on WatchESPN and MLSsoccer.com. Fans can secure free tickets to the game by clicking here . Quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Calvert became the youngest member of the Red-and-White to sign a professional contract at 16 years, 8 months and 13 days of age, after leading the nation with 22 goals scored during the 2012-13 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. The Wrightwood, Calif. native's stellar performance also earned him National Player of the Year honors. Returning to play with the Academy in 2013-14, the young Goat led the Chivas USA U-18s to the Quarterfinal Round of the USSDA playoffs with seven goals in 12 appearances on the season.
All MLS clubs were asked to nominate eligible players for the game and based on availability, the final 20 were selected in consultation with MLS Director of Player Programs Alfonso Mondelo, who will coach the Homegrown team.
