
Chivas USA faces New England Revolution this Sunday

CHIVAS USA HOSTS NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION IN CRUCIAL MATCH THIS SUNDAY, SEPT. 13: Chivas USA, looking for a spot in the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, continues its quest for the postseason when it hosts the New England Revolution this Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12:00 noon PT. The Red-and-White currently hold a 10-9-3 record, good for 33 points, and are tied for fifth place in the Western Conference with Real Salt Lake. The game against the Revolution, who also have 33 points (9-7-6), holds playoff implications for both teams and will be a rematch of the July 19 match, which the Revolution won at home by a score of 2-0. A special "Family Pack" is available for the game, which gives fans four tickets, four hats, and four hotdogs starting at just $58. CHIVAS USA AND CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA IN THE SEPT. 23 'CHIVACLÃSICO' AT THE ROSE BOWL: Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara will face off for the first time ever in the United States on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m. PT at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. The 'ChivaClásico' is part of Guadalajara's 2009 U.S. tour, and tickets for the Sept. 23 game are now on sale, with advance prices starting at $20 for General Admission, $30 for Reserved, and $40 for Preferred. Ticket prices go up by $5 on the day of the game, so purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged. CHIVAS USA PRESENTS SEVENTH ANNUAL 'HEROES CUP' SOCCER TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK: This week, Chivas USA will present the seventh annual 'Heroes Cup,' a soccer tournament featuring law enforcement and fire department teams from across California. Matches will be played Wednesday through Friday at the Veterans' Park Soccer Complex in Pomona, and the championship and third place matches will take place on Sunday prior to Chivas USA's match against the New England Revolution. Teams participating this year include: Orange County Fire Department, L.A. County Sheriffs Department, So Cal United, L.A. City Police Department, L.A. Airport Police Department, L.A. City Fire Department, L.A. County Fire Department, Ventura County Police Department, and the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department.
BORNSTEIN AND U.S. GET PAST EL SALVADOR, TAKE ON TRINIDAD & TOBAGO ON WEDNESDAY: Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein, a three-time MLS All-Star and United States National Team regular, played the full 90 minutes in the United States' 2-1 win over El Salvador in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Sept. 5 in Sandy, Utah. Bornstein is currently with the team in Port of Spain as the U.S. prepares for another World Cup Qualifier, this one against Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 4:00 p.m. PT (7:00 p.m. ET) on ESPN Classic and TeleFutura. The U.S. currently sits in second place in the final round hexagonal, collecting 13 points and a 4-2-1 (W-L-T) record with three games left. Honduras also has 13 points, but leads the U.S. in goal differential. The top three teams automatically advance to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while the fourth place team will participate in a two-leg playoff against the fifth place team from South America.
JORGE FLORES ON UNITED STATES ROSTER FOR UPCOMING FIFA UNDER-20 WORLD CUP: Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores has been named to the United States Under-20 National Team's 21-player roster for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt by head coach Thomas Rongen. Flores will join the team after Chivas USA's home match against the New England Revolution on Sunday, Sept. 13 at The Home Depot Center. The U.S. team will depart for Larnaca, Cyprus, on Sept. 14 and play a final tune-up against Australia before traveling to Suez, Egypt, on Sept. 21. The U.S. opens against Germany on Sept. 26 at 7:00 a.m. PT, then faces Cameroon on Sept. 29 at 9:45 a.m. PT and closes group play against South Korea on Oct. 2 at 9:45 a.m. PT. All three of the USA's group matches will be played at the brand new Mubarak Stadium in Suez, and will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, as well as Galavision.

GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Chivas de Guadalajara earned a 2-2 draw with Puebla on Sunday, Sept. 6, bringing the team's record to 1-3-2 in the Apertura 2009 season. Chivas was able to salvage a point when Mario de Luna Saucedo scored his first Mexican First Division goal in the 90th minute for Chivas.
