Real Salt Lake Returns to League Play Saturday with Visit from Chicago Fire

Fresh off a bye week and back-to-back wins, Real Salt Lake (9-9-6, 33 pts.) will begin the true stretch run of its 2009 MLS regular season this Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Claret-and-Cobalt will welcome Cuauhtémoc Blanco and the rest of the Chicago Fire (10-6-8, 38 pts.) to Rio Tinto Stadium. The 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff in Sandy will serve as the Fox Soccer Channel game of the week, with the nationally-televised broadcast beginning with pre-game coverage at 6:30 p.m. Fans can also follow the action live over the radio on K-TALK 630-AM (coverage beginning with the America First Credit Union Pre-Match Report at 6:00 p.m.) and "Ke Buena" 1600-AM.

Real Salt Lake enters this weekend's affair with Chicago with a 1-5-3 overall record against the Fire and a six-game winless streak against the "Men in Red," which includes a 0-1 defeat in their previous match-up this season at Toyota Park on Aug. 1, when Chicago FW Patrick Nyarko spoiled the visitors' shutout bid with a header in the 76th minute. Real Salt Lake has gone 1-2-1 against Chicago in four previous home meetings at Rice-Eccles Stadium, with Saturday's contest at Rio Tinto Stadium making the Fire the last current team in Major League Soccer to visit RSL's new digs in Sandy.

Only four home games remain on Real Salt Lake's 2009 schedule at Rio Tinto Stadium - including this Saturday's showdown with the Chicago Fire, presented by NAPA, and the recently-announced Oct. 7 friendly against Mexican giant Chivas de Guadalajara - so now's the time to secure your seats for the team's stretch run in Sandy! The Real Salt Lake Ticketing Department has plenty of options to choose from to make sure you have the best seats in the house, including the eight-voucher Flex Pack (starting at $128), single-game Family 4-Packs ($88), KFC Colonel's Corner vouchers ($15) and single-game tickets ($18-$60). In addition, a pair of new ticket options - the "Chivas-Plus Pack" and "Rivalry 3-Pack" - has been introduced to get fans ready for the final two months of the campaign. The "Chivas-Plus Pack" offers convenience and flexibility, with the package including a seat to the Oct. 7 friendly against Chivas, an exclusive pass to a Chivas training session during their Utah visit (time/date/location TBD), and a ticket to any of RSL's three remaining home regular season contests, all for $35 (North Goal) or $55 (Sideline). Meanwhile, the "Rivalry 3-Pack" grants access to all three of Real Salt Lake's remaining MLS home tilts: Saturday, Sept. 12 v. Chicago Fire (7:00 p.m. kickoff), Wednesday, Oct. 14 v. New York Red Bulls (8:00 p.m. kickoff), and the season finale on Saturday, Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 24 (7:00 p.m. kickoff). The "Rivalry 3-Pack" can be purchased for just $33 for seats in the North Goal, South Goal and Corners sections, providing a $21 savings in the goal sections and a $42 savings for the corner areas. These two tremendous ticket packs can only be purchased by calling the Real Salt Lake Ticketing Department at 801-727-2700 and will not be available online or in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium box office.

Beckerman & Findley Remain with U.S. MNT for Wednesday's Qualifier at Trinidad & Tobago

Fresh off its 2-1 comeback win over El Salvador at Rio Tinto Stadium last Saturday, the United States Men's National Team will continue its bid to qualify for the 2010 World Cup when it travels to Trinidad & Tobago for the eighth of 10 Final Round qualifying contests in the CONCACAF region. Once again, Real Salt Lake MF Kyle Beckerman and FW Robbie Findley, will be in contention to earn a "cap" tomorrow night, as U.S. MNT head coach Bob Bradley included both players in the travel squad for the match at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad (5:00 p.m. MT kickoff, LIVE on ESPN Classic & Galavision). Beckerman made his 10th career appearance - and seventh of the summer - for the United States on Saturday, entering in the 80th minute to a loud ovation from the home supporters, while Findley will search for his second "cap" for the U.S. senior side tomorrow against Trinidad & Tobago - which nearly tabbed the 24-year-old striker for its own national team a few years ago.

Tonight's edition of the Rocky Mountain Chevy Dealers RSL Coach's Corner on KALL 700 Sports will drive into its old home of Jerry Seiner GM this evening from 6;00-7:00 p.m., when RSL sideline boss Jason Kreis will join hosts Bill Riley & Spencer Checketts for an hour-long conversation on all things Claret-and-Cobalt. Nelson González to Appear at Wednesday's RSL Summer Soccer Series Stop in North Salt Lake City

The RSL Summer Soccer Series will head to North Salt Lake City this Wednesday, Sept. 9, when Argentine newcomer M/F Nelson González will assist in coaching the free BILINGUAL soccer clinic at Rose Park Elementary School, located at 1105 W. 1000 North, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The RSL Summer Soccer Series - conducted by the RSL Youth Soccer staff, players, and coaches - is geared towards children ages 5-17. Pre-registration is encouraged, but on-site sign up is also available. All participants will receive a free RSL Summer Soccer Series T-shirt.
