Chivas USA announces 2006 TV schedule

CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA announced today its full broadcast schedule for the 2006 season. For its second campaign in Major League Soccer, 29 of Chivas USA's 32 regular-season matches will be televised on either Spanish- or English-language television, including six national broadcasts. A complete schedule is above.

We invite Chivas fans to tune in and support their team as Chivas USA embarks on its second season in Major League Soccer," said Chivas USA Senior Vice President and General Manager Whit Haskel.

FSN PRIME TICKET, Chivas USA's official English-language broadcast partner, will broadcast a total of 18 Chivas USA games during the upcoming season, including six away games and 12 home games. Christian Miles returns for his second season on PRIME TICKET as Chivas USA's play-by-play man, while Thomas Rongen returns as color commentator. The first game on FSN WEST 2 is the Chivas USA season opener versus Real Salt Lake this Sunday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. PT. The next day, April 3, FSN WEST 2 will be officially re-launched as FSN PRIME TICKET.

FSN PRIME TICKET is also home to 'Chivas USA Live', a 30-minute pregame show providing unmatched access to Chivas USA. A true extension of the game broadcast, 'Chivas USA Live' features the professional experience and insider perspectives of both Rongen and Miles. In addition to Chivas USA, the new-look FSN PRIME TICKET will also be the main English-language broadcast affiliate for such popular Southland sports properties the Los Angeles Dodgers (Major League Baseball), the Los Angeles Clippers (National Basketball Association), and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (National Hockey League).

In addition, FSN PRIME TICKET will air Chivas USA's Saturday, September 30 showdown against the Los Angeles Galaxy as a Galaxy local broadcast.

Five Chivas USA 2006 games will be broadcast on KAZA Azteca 54, the Los Angeles affiliate of Mexican-owned network Azteca América and the official Spanish-language television broadcast partner of Chivas USA. KAZA will air four away games and one home game, including away games against FC Dallas (June 11), Real Salt Lake (July 4), Colorado Rapids (July 21) and Houston Dynamo (Sept. 16), plus Chivas USA's September 9 home contest versus FC Dallas. Paco González of Mexico's TV Azteca returns as Chivas USA's play-by-play man, while Ramón Diaz returns as color commentator. KAZA Azteca 54 is also home to Chivas USA's official television weekly program, 'Somos Chivas USA', which airs Saturdays from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. PT.

In addition, Chivas USA will be featured six times on English-language national television, via the five previously announced matches on Major League Soccer broadcast partner ESPN2, plus a June 11 match at FC Dallas on HDNet. (See full list above.)

Finally, Chivas USA announced three date changes for the upcoming season. First, Chivas USA swapped home and away dates for its two-game series with the New England Revolution. Chivas USA will now travel to New England to play on Saturday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m. PT, while the Revolution will visit The Home Depot Center on August 6 in a game that will be carried by FSN PRIME TICKET. Second, Chivas USA's game against the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center has been moved to Sunday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT; this game will also be carried by FSN PRIME TICKET. These changes are reflected in the schedule above.

Chivas USA, Major League Soccer's Mexican-owned, Los Angeles-based franchise, kicks off its second campaign in MLS on April 2, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. PT versus Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
