Chivas, Santos announce squad lists for Sunday's hurricane benefit in Santa Barbara

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, October 4, 2005) - Mexican First Division teams Club Deportivo Guadalajara and Santos Laguna have officially named their squads for this Sunday's historic exhibition match between a Chivas Select Team (featuring players from sister clubs Chivas Guadalajara and Chivas USA) and Santos, in benefit of the hurricane relief efforts of the American Red Cross in the Gulf Coast region. The match will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. PT at Harder Stadium on the Campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB); tickets, which start at just $20, are available by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1, as well as through Ticketmaster and select outlets.

Club Deportivo Guadalajara, popularly known as 'Chivas', are brining an 18-man squad headlined by Mexican internationals Omar Bravo, Adolfo 'Bofo' Bautista and Rafael Medina for a weeklong trip to the United States that includes an exhibition match this Wednesday, October 5, 2005 against fellow Mexican First Division side Cruz Azul. The match will be held in an international doubleheader with Chivas USA's game against the Colorado Rapids at INVESCO Field in Denver, Colorado. Winners of a record ten Mexican league championships and semifinalists in the 2005 Copa Libertadores, Chivas Guadalajara is coached by Spaniard Xabier Azkargorta.

Santos Laguna, for their part, bring a star-studded 20-man roster to the United States which includes South American forwards Rodrigo 'Pony' Ruiz and Matías Vuoso, as well as Mexican players such as Carlos Cariño and Gerardo Espinoza. Winner of two Mexican league championships, Santos is coached by former Mexican international and Chivas Guadalajara player and coach Eduardo 'Yayo' de la Torre.

The squad list for Chivas USA, as well as all teams' itineraries for their stay in Southern California, will be announced shortly.

The match, which is presented by Chivas USA in conjunction with Santa Barbara Soccer Entertainment and hosted by the Department of Recreation of the University of California, Santa Barbara, will be broadcast live in the United States by Fox Sports en Español, Fox Soccer Channel and Radiovisa 830 AM, and worldwide by Fox Sports Latin America, Fox Sports World Canada and Fox Sports Middle East/Africa.
