Chiefs Will Play in 11th Game 7 in Franchise History

The Spokane Chiefs will be playing in their 11th final and deciding game in franchise history when they travel to take on the Tri-City Americans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night Spokane's three wins in the series have all come in overtime, including Monday night's game six when Liam Stewart's third goal of the playoffs pushed the series to the final game.

It will be the third time the two franchises have met in a seventh game. The previous two, 1995 and 2008, were also played in Kennewick's Toyota Center. Tri-City won an overtime game seven in 1995 while Spokane picked up a 4-1 victory in 2008 during the Western Conference Finals.

Chiefs' fans can follow the game live on SWX, channel 115 on Xfinity Digital Cable, or listen live on SportsRadio 1510 KGA, Everything Sports. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 6:30 with Xfinity Hockey Tonight.

Six of the previous 10 deciding games have been played against Portland, two against Tri-City and two against Tacoma/Kelowna. Spokane has played one game nine (1985-86) and nine more game sevens. In total, the Chiefs are 5-5 in winner-take-all contests.

It will be the fourth time in five playoff seasons that the Chiefs have played a game seven. In 2008, Spokane won a 4-1 decision in Tri-City during the Western Conference Championship series. The Chiefs dropped an overtime game seven at Vancouver in 2009's Conference Semi-Final. Portland won a game seven in the Spokane Arena in 2010 in the first WHL playoff series where the road team won every game.

Blake Gal, Steven Kuhn and Corbin Baldwin have played in two game sevens ('09 vs. Vancouver and '10 vs. Portland). Brenden Kichton, who is injured and will not play Wednesday night, and Dominik Uher also played versus Portland in '10.

The winner will advance to play in the Western Conference Championship series against the winner of the Portland-Kamloops series. Kamloops earned a 7-6 win at home on Monday night to force a seventh game at Portland, also to be played on Wednesday night.
