Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - May 13, 2008 - The Knights got a pair of home runs in the first game of their four game series against the Syracuse Chiefs. The only problem was that they were solo home runs as the Knights were 5-2 losers to visiting Syracuse.
Second baseman Chris Getz hit his 4th home run of the season in the 4th inning which gave the Knights an early 1-0 lead. After a three run 5th inning by the Chiefs, the Knights drew closer with Thomas Collaro's first homer of the season.
The Knights weren't able to do much after that as they were held to just 5 hits on the night. Syracuse tacked on two insurance runs in the 9th inning as they improve to 23-16 on the season. Chiefs pitcher Davis Romero (1-2) got the win. With the loss the Knights fall to 16-22, as starter Charlie Haeger (2-4) took the loss.
The Knights and Chiefs resume their series tomorrow at 7:15 pm. LHP John Parrish (5-0, 3.03 ERA) will start for Syracuse, RHP Jack Egbert (0-1, 6.09 ERA) goes for Charlotte.
