SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Thursday that forward prospect Blake Swetlikoff has signed a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement and committed to playing for the Chiefs.
"Blake made great strides in his development this year," said Chiefs' general manager Scott Carter. "He is a hard-working two-way player who has also shown the ability to take a leadership role. We're very proud to officially welcome him to the organization and look forward to his future as a Chief."
Swetlikoff, a 15-year-old from Regina, Sask., was originally the Chiefs' third-round pick (61st overall) in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft after posting 72 points (32G-40A) in 31 games with the Regina Monarchs Bantam AA of the SMAAHL. This season, he was the second-leading 2003-born skater for the Regina Pat Canadians Midget AAA of the SMHL, scoring 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 40 games played. He added a goal and two assists in eight playoff games for the Pat C's.
Swetlikoff also suited up for Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, racking up five points (2g-3A) in six games as Saskatchewan skated to a fourth-place finish.
He is the third player from the Chiefs' 2018 bantam draft class to sign, joining D Graham Sward (1st round, 17th overall) and F Owen MacNeil (2nd round, 39th overall).
